Are Student Fees Going to Make Specialised Professions Prohibitive?

This is the question that seems to be on the mind of every person in the country at the moment. With university fees costing up to £9,000 per year and most greedy learning institutions choosing to charge this full amount, specialised professions may well be out of grasp for the average school leaver in the future.

This may effectively mean that we are going back to a time where universities were far more elitist with their selection of students. After all, it would be highly unlikely that the average working class family would be able to stump up the huge cost of £27,000 for a three year degree course.

This would mean that when a school leaver has ambitions to study for careers such as a doctor, lawyer or even for student dentists, if they want to go ahead, they will be facing this huge debt from the get-go. This would definitely feel like a noose around their necks when they are forced to pay money out of their salaries for many years to come.

There is no denying the fact that such a massive rise in university tuition fees is going to have a negative impact in the future. Moreover, this cost will make the dream of working in a specialise profession completely prohibitive to make people that may be on lower incomes in the UK.

When there is already a shortage of graduates in so many professions in this country, especially connected with the sciences, it beggars belief that these reforms were pushed-through in the first place. We can only hope that the government comes to their sense, and soon, so as not to have such an adverse impact on the university education system of the future.
